FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Webcam Recorder has no built in time limits, but any file created must be smaller than Windows maximum file size of 2Gb. How long it takes to reach this maximum will depend on many factors such as the size/area of screen you are recording, the codec used and the frame rate. We recommend you record for five minutes and multiply the file size up to the 2Gb limit to see how long you can record at those settings.
Q. How big are the files created by Webcam Recorder.
The file size will depend on the setting you use to record, such as the screen area/size being recorded, the codec used and the frame rate. We recommend you experiment with the trial version and codecs and frame rate settings to see typical file sizes for your usage.
Q. When I play a recording the colours are all 'wierd'.
A. Right click on a blank area of desktop and select Properties.
Go to the Settings page.
Change the Colors settings to either True Color or High Color.
Q. When I record from some webcams all I get is a black or blank video.
A. This is a problem caused by the way some webcams interract with your video card. Right click on a blank area of desktop and select properties. Go to the Settings page and click Advanced. Go to the troubleshooting section and you'll see a slider for hardware acceleration. Slide this as far to the left as it will go.
Q. Can I record to an AVI file with WebCam Recorder.
A. Yes, support has been added in V1.10.
Q. Sometimes I get parts of other windows recorded over the top of the camera.
A. WebCam Recorder can only record from windows which are physically visible on the desktop. If another window is covering either part or all of the webcam region then some of that window will be recorded instead of the webcam.
